Irvine - Level 8-11 Class

2 hrLeXT (Irvine)

Service Description

Level 8-11 classes are designed for students aged 9-14, and are focused on advanced building and coding. Level 08 classes are designed for students aged 10-11, and are when students begin incorporating advanced coding into their builds. In level 08 classes, students will learn about properly distributing weight on their robots, linkages, and port defaults. They will then apply these skills onto hands-on LEGO builds, creating Whack-A-Mole games, Boxers, and Box-Cars. Students who are interested in participating in First Lego League will begin in this age group. Students aged 10 with no prior robotics experience will begin at Level 08. Level 09 classes are designed for students aged 10 and Up, and are a great introduction to integral robotics principles and coding. In level 09 classes, students will learn about creating robots that utilize gyro sensors and learn to make autonomous and remote control programs and builds. They will also begin learning about advanced programming, including variables and proportional loops. Students aged 11 with no prior robotics experience will begin at Level 09. Level 10 classes are designed for students ages 11 and Up, and gear towards learning the inner workings of every day machines. In level 10 classes, students will learn how transmissions, suspension, differentials and other car based mechanisms work. They will continue learning about different coding skills such as making functions and MyBlocks, and learn about arrays and lists. The students will also learn to code a game using the display of the EV3 or Spike Prime. Level 11 classes are designed for students aged 12 and Up, and deep dives into advanced robotics concepts. In level 11 classes, students will learn about PID control loops to aid robots in driving, turning, and controlling mechanisms smoothly. They will explore doing multiple tasks at the same time with efficiency. Students in this age group will transition into text based coding using either Python or Java while being introduced to First Tech Challenge.
