Irvine - Level 4-7 Class
Service Description
Level 4-7 classes are designed for students aged 6-10, and are a mix between building and basic coding. Level 04 classes are designed for students aged 7-9, and are arguably the most important series of classes in our entire curriculum, due to the introduction of coding. In level 04 classes, students will learn about using EV3 and coding, creating parallelograms and truss structures, using forever loops, and creating gear ratios. They will then apply these skills onto hands-on LEGO builds, creating builds such as the truss tower and the elevator. Level 04 classes are two hours long, meet once a week, and usually take place from 4:00-6:00. Students aged 7-8 with no prior robotics experience will begin at Level 04. Level 05 classes are designed for students aged 7-9, and are when students begin incorporating sensors and more advanced coding into their builds. In level 05 classes, students will learn about "Repeat Until" and "Wait Until" statements in coding, worm gears, and touch sensors. They will then apply these skills onto hands-on LEGO builds, creating builds such as the bumper car and the forklift. Level 05 classes are two hours long, meet once a week, and usually take place from 4:00-6:00. Level 06 classes are designed for students aged 8-10, and are a continuation of the lessons learned in levels 4 & 5. In level 06 classes, students will learn about conditional statements, degrees in a circle, inequalities, and color sensors. They will then apply these skills onto hands-on LEGO builds, creating line-following cars, completing a maze, and creating a paper-airplane launcher. Level 06 classes are two hours long, meet once a week, and usually take place from 4:00-6:00. Students aged 9 with no prior robotics experience will begin at Level 06. Level 07 classes are designed for students aged 8-10, and conclude the second series of classes. In level 07 classes, students will learn about basic logical statements, the ultrasonic sensor, rack gears, and "If, Then, Else" statements. They will then apply these skills onto hands-on LEGO builds, creating builds such as SUMO bots, cars that never fall off a table, and ball sorters. Level 07 classes are two hours long, meet once a week, and usually take place from 4:00-6:00.
