Ages 9+

9+ Join us for our LEGO EV3 programming class. Students will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of different building and programming classes. The morning will be focused on building and the afternoon will be on programming

EV3 Sumo

Students construct Sumo robots with the goal of taking part in our competitions on Saturdays (not mandatory). Robots will be built with EV3 sensors and motors and will be coded to autonomously find and battle the enemy robot.

Python

Learn the basics of python, one of the most powerful programming languages out there. Learn the basics week 1 and then during week 2 learn to control robots with python using the Lego EV3 system.

Combat 11+ only

For the 11+ age group the kids have the opportunity to work with real tools and materials to build their own, combat robots. Kids will use basic tools such as hacksaws and drills to create a competitive fighting robot. Students can select between 4 different models and with the help of our trained instructors, assemble their robots that they get to keep at the end of the session! The controller and receiver can be reused on subsequent robots and don’t need to be repurchased.

Line Following

Students will learn all about color sensors and how to use them in correspondence with motors on a car. Students will progressively learn how to follow a line on a table with the final goal of racing their EV3 robot cars. Students will eventually learn PID which is a tool used in many real world applications is robotics and other industrial process variables.

FLL Missions

Students create a robot car with the goal to complete a task based mission. Every year, First Lego League releases a new map full of tasks and teams compete against each other to perform tasks on the competition table and score as many points as possible.

Minecraft

Students use the Minecraft platform to learn all about Logic and their real world applications. Students will learn the real life counterparts of each minecraft piece and see where Mojang got the inspiration from.

Note: For all 9+ classes, kids are encouraged to bring their own personal laptops. No school laptops. If you don’t have access to a laptop, don’t worry, computers can be provided.

Ages 7-8

Learn the basics of engineering and coding with LEGO Power Functions and LEGO WeDo 2.0. Campers are introduced to engineering through gears and physics principles. Students build and program a multitude of builds including an orbiting satellite or even a dinosaur that is able to talk around! Students are also introduced to coding through the MIT made scratch program.

WeDo Space

Students embark in a story line that has them create a bunch of space themed builds. All builds are powered by Legos WeDo 2.0 which allows the builds to be autonomous and come to life using motors and sensors.

WeDo Jurassic

Students learn all about prehistoric dinosaurs. The campers learn about biomimicry and create realistic dinosaurs. All builds are powered by Legos WeDo 2.0 which allows the builds to be autonomous and come to life using motors and sensors.

WeDo Sumo

Students are introduced to the world of robotic combat. In our sumo program for WeDO, kids learn to make cars that are both autonomous or driver controlled. Students learn about keeping their car from falling off the sumo table or how to power their strategic weapons.

WeDo Competition

Students are introduced to task based problem solving. Kids will have to create cars that are driver controlled and perform tasks such as picking objects up and moving them, knocking objects down, or activating a switch. All cars are programmed with WeDO 2.0.

LEGO City

Students are introduced to engineering using LEGOS Power Functions. Over the course of a week, students create builds that they might find in the city such as a tower crane or an elevator. They work with motors, gears, pulleys and other fun physics principles.

LEGO Ocean

Students are introduced to engineering using LEGOS Power Functions. Over the course of a week, students create builds that resemble things they find at the ocean such as a lighthouse, boats and other fun activities! They work with motors, gears, pulleys and other fun physics principles.

Scratch

Students learn all about MIT’s Scratch. Over the course of a week, students learn the ins and outs of the premier visual coding language to make small games. With scratch, the kids program their own interactive stories, games and animations. Scratch helps young minds to understand the flow of coding, helps them think creatively, and reason systematically.

Note: For all WeDo and Scratch classes, kids are encouraged to bring their own personal laptops. No school laptops. If you don’t have access to a laptop, don’t worry, computers can be provided.

Ages 4-6

Learn the basics of engineering using LEGO duplo! Students get to build large builds and structures while learning about basic physics principles and learning to master their hand eye coordination. Builds include immersive buildings, landscapes, and objects. Some builds also include gears to make their builds come to life and move. Students are also introduced to event based coding through LEGO Education Doding Express!

LEGO Ocean

Students learn all about the ocean and create ocean themed builds. An example of this is learning about old explorers who used stars to navigate and how compasses work in conjunction to making a ship.

LEGO City

Students create large buildings and other infrastructure they might find throughout the city. Some builds may include famous monuments such as the Empire State Building or the Taj Mahal.

LEGO Theme Park

Students learn all about theme parks and the different machines that make them fun. They may get to build a giant Ferris wheel or even a merry-go-round. Most of these builds are powered by gears!

LEGO Space

Students spend the week creating space themed builds. They also learn about space and the many wonders it has. An example build may be the mars rover!

Coding Express

Students learn the basics of sequencing, conditional coding and problem solving with the help of LEGO Educations Coding Express. Students build landscapes and buildings for their trains to traverse through. An example of this can be the train safari, where the train stops at an animal so they can learn about it.

LEGO Jurassic

Students learn all about the prehistoric era. Classes are themed around dinosaurs and prehistoric landscapes. The students may build a few different types of dinosaurs and end the week with building a giant volcano!

LEGO Sports

Students get to learn all about sports and the cultures that made them up! Students build anything from a hockey player to building a giant Harry Potter themed quidditch field!

Note: For all Coding Express classes, kids are encouraged to bring their own personal tablets. No school tablets/laptops. If you don’t have access to a tablet, don’t worry, there will be some provided.
